The volume of fan outcry actually led to BioWare developing an Extended Cut that provided slightly more closure and player input, an unprecedented move that simply doesn't happen for other games and movies with controversial endings or moments.
The controversy surrounding Mass Effect 3's ending became so heated that many fans still refuse to accept it as the ultimate conclusion to years of playtime. However, many also dread finishing the trilogy and, once again, experiencing the much-reviled ending of the third game. With the Mass Effect Legendary Edition coming this May, fans are ecstatic to finally play the beloved sci-fi RPG once again in a gorgeous remaster.
